17 June - 17 Sept 2017
To mark the launch of RIBA North, architects KHBT, members of The Office for Subversive Architecture, were invited to visually and spatially interpret the aims and purpose of the new architecture centre. The resulting pavilion in the covered public area at the entrance to RIBA North, uses curtains of mesh fabric, typically used on building site scaffolding, to create sections through some of the most iconic architectural structures across the North of England. Scale negatives of these buildings waft in and out of focus as visitors walk through, beyond and within (amongst others) Preston Bus Station, Imperial War Museum North and the Sage.
Generously supported by shedKM and Falconer Chester Hall Architects.
